Big E became WWE Champion in September 2021, cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase to defeat Bobby Lashley.
The reign lasted until January 1 when he lost the title to Brock Lesnar in a fatal five-way match. During his run, Big E suffered losses in multi-man matches and was handed singles defeats against the likes of Roman Reigns and Lashley.
Speaking to Josh Martinez on Superstar Crossover, Big E was asked what he would have done different in his WWE Title reign.
"There are several things I would do differently. My focus really is just on performing, I do the best I can. I wish it would have lasted longer and we would have had that period to produce more dynamic things. It's difficult to latch on to a new champion when, within the first month, they have multiple losses on TV. We can go down this path...I appreciate, genuinely, the people who support me and wanted better for me. I also want better for myself. I'll leave it there," he said.
Big E's reign drew comparisons to Kofi Kingston's reign, which lasted longer, but ended thanks to Brock Lesnar.
When asked if Big E got any advice from Kofi on how to handle things, he replied, "He's not a guy who pulls you aside, he leads by example. I was able to see the way he handled things with his title run and the way things ended. It's interesting how our runs weren't too drastically different. That falling off of a cliff feeling at the hands of one Brock Lesnar and then suddenly, it feels like you woke up a year prior and you're back to doing what you were doing before. He's a guy who handled it with grace. He didn't complain, show up to work pouting, he's a consummate professional and someone who leads by example."
Big E and Kofi have been reunited on WWE SmackDown as Big E was moved to the brand following his WWE Title reign.
FIghtful will have live coverage of WWE SmackDown beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
