Brandi Rhodes Wants To Reach The Top Of AEW's Women's Division For Her Daughter

Brandi Rhodes has a special reason for wanting to capture the AEW Women's Championship, her newborn daughter.

When AEW first started in January 2019, Brandi Rhodes was the first woman to be signed to the promotion and she was signed as an executive and a professional wrestler, something that has never happened at the onset of a promotion.

Brandi’s character on television underwent many changes as the show first started with ideas such as The Nightmare Collective being attempted and falling by the wayside quickly. Then shortly before she could team with Cody Rhodes against Jade Cargill and Shaquille O'Neal, it was revealed that she was pregnant and would no longer be taking part in in-ring competition for the foreseeable future.

Speaking on That Hashtag Show, Brandi Rhodes, when asked if she has aspirations of becoming Women's Champion, revealed that she is determined to get back into the ring for her daughter and make sure that her daughter knows that as long as you have a strong work ethic, you can accomplish anything.

"For me, my goals may not be what people think they are. My goals, I think, can be my mine. But for me, it's always important and it's always been important to show my daughter that I'm not going to put my passions aside. I think it's very important to show another female what a working woman looks like. I came into a household of a mom that worked. I've only always known my mom to work and I appreciated all of her hard work and what she did and I appreciate it that she kept her life. So for me, that's wrestling. I'm very passionate about it. I'm very passionate about making it back into the ring.

"Everything that I do, every drill that I do, every push-up that I do, every extra 30 seconds that I have to run, I think about my daughter because I'm doing this for her. I'm doing this to show her that it may seem very difficult, but it's doable and you're a product of your mother, you can do anything that you set your mind to. So it's much more meaningful to me now before it was kind of a more selfish thing of this is what I want. 'This is what I need. Me, me me.' Now it's, 'This is what I want to do for her. This is what I want to show her.'"

While Brandi Rhodes has not announced a formal return to the ring yet, she has accompanied Cody Rhodes to the ring for two consecutive episodes of Dynamite after making her return in Queens, New York at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam.

This week, the new reality show, Rhodes to the Top premiered on the TNT Network. You can see viewership information for that first episode at this link.
