At GCW Homecoming night one, John Bradshaw Layfield (JBL) made a surprise appearance at the event, helping Mance Warner win the GCW World Title in a ladder match.
JBL took out Effy with a clothesline, which led to Mance climbing the ladder and retrieving the title.
Speaking on The Business of the Business podcast with John Poz, GCW promoter Brett Lauderdale commented on JBL making his GCW debut.
"I'm a big fan of JBL. Who is not? JBL and I have a mutual friend, who will remain unnamed. It's one of those things. JBL is not exclusive....GCW has a reputation for guys like JBL, who are kind of dipping their foot into the independent world for the first time. They want to go somewhere where they know they can have fun and treat them with respect and present them with respect. It's somewhere where they know it's going to get the attention it deserves and they're going to be well represented. We have a mutual friend and I had a good conversation with JBL. JBL is interested in going out and having some fun right now. GCW is one of those places where guys like him can have fun," said Lauderdale.
JBL has been on a promotional tour, appearing in GCW, AAA Lucha Libre, TNA Wrestling, and more.
Elsewhere during the interview, Lauderdale commented on Nick Gage's status with GCW. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
