Brian Gewirtz Recalls Getting Suspended In WWE For Slap Boxing With Paul Heyman

Brian Gewirtz served as writer in WWE from 1999 to 2012, becoming the lead writer during his time in the company.

During his time in WWE, Gewirtz worked closely with The Rock, which led to him joining The Rock's Seven Bucks Production company following his run in WWE.

For years, Roman Reigns vs. The Rock has been talked about by Reigns, Rock, Paul Heyman, and fans as a potential dream match. While Heyman, who serves as the Special Counsel to Reigns, has weighed in, Gewirtz, who serves as the Special Writer to The Great One, has been silent.

Until now.

"You'll love the chapter in the book where Paul and I get into an actual slap fight and get suspended from WWE. I get along great with Paul, now. Who won the fight? I don't know. You know the GIF of Jerry and George kind of waving their arms? It wasn't exactly Tyson/Holyfield," Gewirtz recalled on The Ringer's Cheap Heat podcast when asked to respond to Heyman regarding a match between Rock and Reigns.

After that story, Gewirtz circled back to Heyman and said, "Paul is one unique individual, a future Hall of Famer, and never ceases to not entertain me on-screen. I think it would be a horrific mistake, on a historic level you can't possibly imagine, but if there were ever a tag team match, me and Rock against Heyman and Roman, that would be amusing in terms of the mix of sheer greatness and sheer awfulness combined into one attraction, but I'd be down for it."

During the second season of "Young Rock" teased a potential match between Rock and Reigns at a future WrestleMania.

Gewirtz' new book There’s Just One Problem: True Tales from the Former, One-Time, 7th Most Powerful Person in WWE is set to release on August 16.
