Brian Kendrick hasn't wrestled since October 2020, but he's found a new role in WWE.
Kendrick has been serving as a producer for NXT since late 2020 and the new role has him excited about wrestling again.
"Initially, the idea of producing seemed like it was just a good retirement plan and the next best thing to wrestling. It turns out, it's just as rewarding in different ways. I love every bit of it and it's a whole new way of looking at wrestling for him. I welcome the challenge and if I get to produce four matches and wrestle twice in one night, I would do it," he said in a WWE Performance Center video.
Isaiah "Swerve" Scott and Mansoor praised Kendrick in the video, calling it an honor to sit under his learning tree.
Kendrick continued expressing his excitement by saying, "To get this opportunity to help train a little bit and do some producing, it was something I figured I would fall back on when my days were done wrestling if I was lucky enough to get that opportunity. I figured it'd be the next best thing besides wrestling. I didn't realize how much I would enjoy it, to work with these young ladies and men and see them go out there, pour their heart and soul, use their athletic ability. I get to participate without taking any of the bumps, which is really nice. To see them go out there and do a good job and come back and be excited about what they did, I get to live vicariously through them. It's got me excited about hopefully doing this long-term."
It is unknown if Kendrick will return to the ring.
