Brie Garcia Says Bryan Danielson Wanted To Do A UFC Fight Years Ago But She And A Medical Team Said No

Brie Garcia knows Bryan Danielson is passionate about grappling, but she's more passionate about her husband's health and the longevity of their life as a family.

It should be no surprise with Bryan Danielson's preferred wrestling style that he is proficient in grappling and a fan of mixed martial arts. However, Brie Garcia, Bryan's wife is now opening up about "The American Dragon" having a past desire to step inside the Octagon and fight in the UFC.

During an interview with ESPN's Marc Raimondi, Garcia revealed that Danielson was into the idea several years ago. Still, she and a medical team provided the conscience Danielson needed in order to think the better of a potential fight.

"No. He really wanted to years ago and I said no. My husband is incredible at grappling training. I mean, he's worked with some of the UFC guys, but when you have a husband who's had a lot of concussions, that's the last place you want to see him," she said. "Doctors, too. The whole medical team. All of us were like, 'Bryan, it sounds great, but...' For me, as a wife, I look at longevity. Bryan and I are coming up to our 10-year wedding anniversary, and I know we're going to have 20-30 more years. So, for me, it's his health in the long run, not the short term."

Elsewhere in this interview, Garcia spoke about her husband's recent orbital bone injury and how he dealt with the pain until his nose went numb. Read more here.

Danielson, despite his recent injuries, is taking part in the AEW Continental Classic Tournament. Fans can check out updated standings at this link.
