Bronson Reed reflects on the phone call with Triple H that landed him back in WWE.
Following his WWE release in 2021, Bronson Reed continued to make a name for himself in promotions such as IMPACT Wrestling and New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
Along the way, NJPW showed great faith in the man known at the time as JONAH, even giving him a win over Kazuchika Okada. However, Bronson Reed ultimately decided to return to WWE, returning as a hired gun for The Miz on the December 19, 2022 episode of WWE Monday Night Raw.
Now, speaking on the latest episode of WWE After The Bell, Reed explained that he was the one to initially send Triple H a text message to gauge the interest of the WWE Chief Content Officer and reflects on the phone call he had with "The Game."
"I was actually here at home, and it was Triple H that called me. I always had a great relationship with him," said Reed. "At the time, I was working with New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and it looked like I could do one of two things. I could have signed on with them to stay longer, or I could have come back to WWE. I sent a text to Hunter just to see if he was interested. He was, so he set up a time to call me. He called me, and we had a great chat about everything, not just coming back to WWE, but wrestling in general; what I've been doing.
"It just felt right. It felt like, 'Okay, this is the move that I need to make.' I said to Hunter, 'I didn't get to do those things like [compete in a] Royal Rumble or [at] WrestleMania or [in]an Elimination Chamber. These are the things that I wanted to be able to do.' So I'm very happy that I'm back to be able to do those things," Bronson added.
Bronson Reed will get the opportunity to compete in his first Elimination Chamber Match on Saturday, February 18 at the WWE Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event. Reed will be one of five challengers for Austin Theory's WWE United States Championship as that title will be defended inside the Elimination Chamber for the first time ever.
