Bruce Prichard: I've Done More Re-Writes In A Year Than Vince McMahon Did In A Lifetime

Bruce Prichard details WWE backstage when Vince McMahon wasn't around.

Vince McMahon rarely missed television when he was running WWE, but in the instances that he did, things continued to operate as normal backstage in WWE.

"Everybody gets trained. Everybody knows their jobs and can function and can do it. You take away one piece and everybody fills in, does their job, and covers whoever is gone as well. Everybody thinks 'Oh My God, somebody is gone. It's going to crumble.' Not at all. Everybody is trained and is very good at what they do, so they do their jobs. The perception that it all just crumbles...you even look later on, with Vince no longer in the picture, 'Oh my God, it's going to crumble.' No, it's not. Everybody has been trained for years to do their job. We did it while he was there and we did it without him. That's what it is. Without him being there, he was not there a lot," said WWE Executive Director Bruce Prichard on Something To Wrestle.

Asked if there were less last minute changes when Vince was gone, Bruce replied, "Less. Definitely less. You're still talking to him. He has a phone (when he missed shows during his time with the company), so you're still talking to him. There was a need, maybe, in his mind, until that show is on the air live, you have an opportunity to make it better. That's all relative and personal feeling. You talk about re-writing the show during the show. I did that more than Vince McMahon ever has. I've probably done it more in a year than Vince McMahon has in a lifetime. That's what I do when we're live. We have to rearrange because of timing, injuries, whatever comes up. That's just life and the business. I would go in and make those changes. It wasn't Vince. He gets painted with that brush. It's not, 'I'm in the middle of a show, let's change it.' No, there are reasons why we change it once the show starts. Things happen. If something doesn't go right, we have to change it. It's on a weekly basis, but it doesn't happen every week. When it does, we have to go in and heal it. That's what I do.

McMahon resigned from WWE in January after a lawsuit was filed against him and the company by former employee Janel Grant, who alleged sex trafficking and sexual abuse.
