Bruce Prichard Thought Early Cut Of 'Mr. McMahon' Was A 'Gotcha Piece' That Missed The 'Human Side' Of Vince McMahon

Bruce Prichard is prominently featured in the Netflix docuseries "Mr. McMahon." Prichard has worked in WWE on and off beginning in 1987, and has been back with the company as executive director since 2018.

While many of the interviews were recorded before allegations of hush money and sexual misconduct came to light in June 2022, Prichard recorded an interview in January 2024, but before Janel Grant's lawsuit was filed against WWE and Vince McMahon.

Vince McMahon: The Idea That We Would Try To Humiliate Owen Hart Because Bret Hart Left For WCW Only Speaks To Bret’s Ego

Bruce saw an early cut of the documentary and said, "Thought they sucked. I didn't think it was balanced at all. I thought it was a gotcha piece. I thought it was portrayed as a gotcha piece. It was all about, 'How can we make Vince look back? Let's make him look shitty here, let's make him look shitty there.' I'm close to it. I live it. It's personal to me."

Asked what he thought was missing from the early episodes, Bruce said, "The human side. Look, Vince is a businessman. But also, the other side of Vince is, when my wife got cancer, Vince made sure she had the best care in the world. My wife was given a four-year life expectancy. Best-case scenario. That was 24 years ago. That was because Vince McMahon made sure she got the best care available. It wasn't a documentary on Vince and Vince's life and Vince's story. It was, 'See what an asshole Vince McMahon is. Let's see how big of an asshole we can make him.' If he were one, I would support that, but he's not."

Two days after Prichard's interview was recorded, Grant's lawsuit was filed and McMahon resigned as TKO Executive Chairman.

Prichard remains in WWE as the Executive Director.

Janel Grant, a former WWE employee, filed a lawsuit in January against Vince McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis. The lawsuit accuses McMahon of sexual assault and sex trafficking. On May 30, Grant agreed to pause the lawsuit for six months while the federal investigation continued against McMahon, who resigned from TKO/WWE following the lawsuit being filed.
