Bryan Danielson discusses using Europe's "Final Countdown" for his theme song in AEW.
Europe's "Final Countdown" was Bryan Danielson's theme song in Ring of Honor, and when it was known that Danielson was heading to AEW, some fans expected and hoped that the song would return. However, that was not the case upon his debut at AEW All Out 2021.
During a recent appearance on the Sappenin’ Podcast with Sean Smith, Bryan Danielson revealed that he personally did not try to get the song for his AEW debut. Instead, Danielson explained how he got his friend, Elliott Taylor, to produce his "Born for Greatness" theme.
"That’s not even a true thing. I wasn’t trying to bring anything in. The music that I come out to now, I wanted something different from my WWE stuff, but if you heard the first part would be reminiscent of that. My friend Elliott (Taylor), he produces a lot of great music. He put that together for me and turned it around within a week. What I really wanted, and it’s never truly caught on, I got it from an English football chant. I did it in Ring of Honor and it caught on and people liked it, but I think it’s hard in bigger arenas. ‘You’re gonna get your fucking head kicked in.’ I wanted that kind of beat in my entrance music, and Elliott put it in, but it hasn’t really caught on in the United States."
The song would, in fact, eventually return when Danielson first wrestled Kazuchika Okada at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door in 2023. Fans can read what Tony Khan had to say about getting the clearance to use the song here.
