Buddy Murphy Wants To Cement His Legacy As The Greatest Cruiserweight Of All-Time

Buddy took a chance on himself and it paid off.

Buddy Murphy arrived on the 205 Live scene in early 2018 and was soon dubbed "The Juggernaut" of 205 Live. Within ten months on the brand, he captured the WWE Cruiserweight Championship and is currently still the champion. Murphy is set to compete at his first WrestleMania today as he and Tony Nese will clash for the coveted Cruiserweight Title. Murphy is excited to compete at his first WrestleMania and him being able to walk in as champion makes the moment more special and while speaking to his home-country news outlet 'news.com.au', Murphy said that he is looking to cement his legacy as the greatest Cruiserweight to ever do it.

Talent Still Aren't Sure Of WWE Raw On Netflix Runtime

“This is my first Mania and it is massive and super special,” he said. “Because it is WrestleMania everyone wants to do that bucket list of wrestling at a WrestleMania and doing that as a champion makes it even more special. I’m looking forward to wrestling Tony Nese, defending my title and cementing my legacy as the greatest cruiserweight of all time.”

Buddy Murphy dubbed himself the "Best Kept Secret" and is aware that there was a lot of proving ground to cover with that nickname.

"The road was tough — being on NXT, not being seen, not being on television and not knowing where or how my career was going to go from there, to winning the Cruiserweight Championship in my hometown, it doesn’t get much bigger than that,” he said. “Being lost in the dark so to speak in NXT — I had a lot to offer and didn’t really have a platform to really show what I had to offer. I was watching a TakeOver and wondering why I wasn’t on it — I was being told how good I was and I believed that I should be on it — I was no different to anyone else. That TakeOver, I grabbed a notepad and pen and the ‘best kept secret’ came out — because I’m getting told just how good I am and no one knew — I was technically a secret to the whole world. It was a scary thing to do — to give yourself a nickname like that. You have to deliver, because if I didn’t I would have shot myself in the foot pretty badly.”
