Carmella and R-Truth became one of the most entertaining acts on television when they were paired together in 2018.
Carmella would help R-Truth hold onto or win the WWE 24/7 Title at every turn, and while the two had undeniable chemistry on-screen, Carmella did admit to feeling some frustration while being paired with R-Truth.
"Sometimes I look back and I was kind of frustrated, because I was like, 'I want to be champion, I want to be in the women's division, I want to be kicking butt, having these awesome matches', but I wasn't doing that," Carmella said to Stephanie Chase of Digital Spy. "I was running around with R-Truth but I'm grateful for that time now when I look back because it was so different and I got to be involved in the show in a different way and show a different side of my character. So it's just completely different from Reginald because when I was with Reginald I was in the division, I was number one contender, it was a little more serious compared to when I was with R-Truth, it was more fun and games."
Carmella did praise R-Truth, calling him a legend and being able to learn from him.
"R-Truth is R-Truth, he's a legend, he's been around forever and he's not afraid to make a fool of himself and I just learned so much from him during our time together. He was like, 'Oh this is really silly but, you know what, we're going to do it, we're going to make the most of it,' and I'm like, 'Yeah of course we are!' We just always had so much fun and we would even travel together sometimes and that was such a special time in my career," she said.
Carmella is back in the women's division as an active competitor on WWE SmackDown. She hasn't won since June 4 when she defeated Liv Morgan.
Fightful has live coverage of WWE SmackDown every Friday beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
