Carmelo Hayes: Maybe I Should Start Calling Myself 'The Legend Killer'

Carmelo Hayes ponders if he should be dubbed "The Legend Killer" after defeating Randy Orton to earn his spot in the WWE Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

Carmelo Hayes has already carved out a legacy for himself in WWE. He will always be seen as one of the pillars of the NXT 2.0 rebranding and he has parlayed his success in NXT into a run on WWE Friday Night SmackDown.

Carmelo Hayes' latest great success was scoring a pinfall on Randy Orton in order to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Speaking about the victory, despite the distractions from Tonga Loa that helped along the way, Hayes told Kayla Braxton on the WWE SmackDown LowDown that perhaps he should start calling himself "Legend Killer" just as Randy did early in his WWE career.

"Yeah, I did pin Randy Orton, but c'mon, Kayla, what did you expect? I'm Him. I mean, he is a 14-time World Champion, Legend Killer? Maybe I should start calling myself 'The Legend Killer.'"

Carmelo would then turn his attention to money in the bank and say that he promises to become 'Mlo in the Bank' on July 6.

"I just realized that I'm so freaking good at what I do. I mean, I'm just so good. I predicted I was going to go to Money in the Bank. I predicted I was going to be 'Melo in the Bank.' The whole world is going to be calling me 'Melo in the Bank.' In Toronto, I'm going to prove that everything I say comes true. We did it!"

Carmelo Hayes will be competing against Andrade, Jey Uso, and three other competitors for the right to earn a championship match at any time they choose. Check out the full card for WWE Money in the Bank here.
