Cesaro says he doesn't want to belong at Roman Reigns’ table.
Cesaro has been grinding for nine years in WWE to make it to the top of the card. At WWE WrestleMania Backlash, he will get his opportunity to become a WWE World Champion for the first time ever when he takes on Roman Reigns in their first singles clash on pay-per-view
Speaking with Sports Illustrated, Cesaro admits that Roman Reigns is on the best run of his career and says that this run may solidify Roman Reigns as one of the all-time best in the company.
“His run has been absolutely incredible. I mean he has found his groove more than ever. I feel like he's at his best right now,” Cesaro began. “He definitely elevated himself. many would probably argue that he is one of the greats in this company. He headlined, what is it like, four WrestleManias in a row? Which has been unheard of and unprecedented. So, if he's not already one of the greats in this company, he is well on his way with his current run, I feel like.”
Continuing on, Cesaro poked fun at Roman Reigns being the “Head of the Table,” saying that he doesn't want to fit in with Roman Reigns. He wants his own table for the entire WWE Universe to celebrate it with him.
“I mean, I don't want to belong at a table he's at. I have my own table. His table is very small, I feel like my table would be big so the whole WWE Universe can share it with me. You got to spread the wealth. When I become Universal Champion, I want to share that championship with everybody around the world. Hopefully, by that point, we can start traveling again soon and I can defend that title all over the world. Bring it everywhere and kind of do a happy reunion tour with our WWE Universe."
Responding to positive comments made by Tommy Dreamer stating that Cesaro should be the face of WWE, Cesaro praised his genuine connection with the WWE audience.
“I really love what I do and I feel like I represent a lot of people from all over the world. I represent the people who want to be WWE Superstars, the people who want to do things that nobody else has ever done from where they’re from. The people who come over to the United States trying to look for that American dream. I feel like I have this special connection with the WWE Universe where for the past nine years, they’ve seen what I’m about rather than me saying what I’m about. So, that’s something that is very hard to describe but I feel like I struck a chord with a lot of people who are watching and that’s upset important, you can’t fake that and you can’t buy that.”
Cesaro will get his chance to dethrone Roman Reigns this Sunday at WWE WrestleMania Backlash. Fightful will have live coverage of the event.
