On Wednesday's AEW Dynamite, Christopher Daniels announced that doctors advised him against wrestling again.
Daniels lost to Hangman Page in a Texas Death Match at AEW Collision Maximum Carnage, taking a tombstone piledriver, a Dead Eye, and a Buckshot Lariat to be put down for the 10 count. Hangman hit the Angel's Wings on Daniels after the match.
Taking to social media, Daniels posted the following comment:
I’m sad that it’s over.

But so very happy that it happened.
Thank you all!
Fightful Select reported on Friday that Daniels effectively retired from in-ring competition following the match, which was taped on Thursday.
Daniels began his career in 1993 and competed for many of the top promotions throughout history including as an enhancement talent in WWE and WCW. He went on to find the biggest success of his career in ROH and TNA Wrestling, where he was a pioneer in the X-Division and a three-time X-Division Champion. In ROH, he captured the ROH World Title, ROH TV Titles, and ROH Tag Team Titles.
Daniels also portrayed Curry Man in Japan, a hot and spicy cartoonish character, and Suicide, a character who originated through the TNA iMPACT! video game, in TNA Wrestling.
Daniels was one of the first signees to AEW when the promotion formed in 2019. Along with being an on-screen talent, Daniels was named Talent Relations, and later an on-screen interim Executive Vice President.
