Christopher Daniels Thanked By Tony Khan After Texas Death Match On AEW Collision Maximum Carnage

Christopher Daniels competed in what could be his final match at AEW Collision Maximum Carnage, losing a Texas Death Match to Hangman Page.

Daniels was bloodied early in the match, and though he put up a valiant fight, he was put down for a 10 count following a tombstone on a chair, the Dead Eye on a chair, and a Buckshot Lariat to the back of the head.

Daniels did not move as the referee counted to ten, awarding the man to Hangman.

After the match, Hangman delivered an Angels Wings to Daniels.

After the bout, Tony Khan took to social media to thank Daniels.

Daniels began his career in 1993 and competed for many of the top promotions throughout history including as an enhancement talent in WWE and WCW. He went on to find the biggest success of his career in ROH and TNA Wrestling, where he was a pioneer in the X-Division and a three-time X-Division Champion. In ROH, he captured the ROH World Title, ROH TV Titles, and ROH Tag Team Titles.

Daniels was one of the first signees to AEW when the promotion formed in 2019. Along with being an on-screen talent, Daniels was named Talent Relations, and later an on-screen interim Executive Vice President.

Daniels also portrayed Curry Man in Japan, a hot and spicy cartoonish character, and Suicide, a character who originated through the TNA iMPACT! video game, in TNA Wrestling.

Fightful Select reported on Friday that Daniels effectively retired from in-ring competition following the match, which was taped on Thursday.
