CM Punk Hits Seth Rollins With GTS, Loses To Drew McIntyre At WWE SummerSlam 2024

CM Punk's emotions cost him.

At WWE SummerSlam, the bitter feud between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre came to a head, as they finally clashed in the ring. The match marked CM Punk's first bout since WWE Royal Rumble in January, as he suffered a torn triceps in the battle royal. Before WWE SummerSlam, Punk had not had a televised singles match in WWE since 2014. Plus, Seth Rollins' presence loomed large in the match, as Seth Rollins was the special guest referee.

McIntyre and Punk took the fight to each other right away. McIntyre overpowered Punk and slammed him into the broadcast table.

As the action continued to heat up, McIntyre grabbed a chair and went to use it on Punk. Rollins initially allowed it before he took the chair from McIntyre. Rollins went to swing the chair and nearly hit Punk on accident. He then was late to count a pin attempt for Punk.

Punk rallied, and he locked McIntyre in the Anaconda Vise. McIntyre escaped and got a near fall with a Claymore. Punk kept fighting, and he went for the GTS. He was distracted by the sight of Rollins wearing the bracelet that had his wife and his dog's names on it. McIntyre hit Punk into Rollins, knocking him out of the ring. Punk then hit McIntyre with the GTS, but no one was there to count the pin.

Once Rollins got back in the ring and counted the near fall, Punk argued with him. Tensions continued to rise, as Rollins told Punk that it was his company, and they did not need him. Punk responded by hitting Rollins with the GTS and taking his bracelet back.

McIntyre took advantage of the situation as he hit Punk below the belt. He then clinched the win with a Claymore, as Rollins counted the pin.

Rollins walked away after the bell. McIntyre then took the bracelet back from Punk to add insult to injury.
