During Tony Schiavone's one-on-one interview with Cody Rhodes at Starrcast, the pair reveal how Tony Schiavone came to be signed with AEW.
Cody Rhodes talks about how Conrad Thompson is Tony’s agent, Revealing that it was Conrad who informed Cody that there was interest in Tony Schiavone services within WWE.
Tony Schiavone would then reveal that it was a call he received from Bruce Prichard, somebody else who does a podcast with Conrad Thompson, informing him that there was interest on the WWE side, “I got a call from Bruce and I actually told Conrad before I told my wife,” Schiavone jokingly revealed.
Then, Tony reveals that it was a simple text message from Cody that began the discussion. The text message read, “You’re not going to WWE.”
The longtime voice of WCW then talked about his meeting with AEW President, Tony Khan over dinner.
“He would say to me, 'remember what you did at Starrcade in 1992?' No, I don't, I really don't. Wow, [Tony Khan] really knows all of this stuff and it’s just a great fan of the sport."
Tony Schiavone officially announced his signing with AEW on the most recent episode of Being The Elite which saw him announce the Charlotte, North Carolina television taping date for the brand.
