Cody Becomes The Fourth IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Champion At 'Fighting Spirit Unleashed'

What a rough couple of months for Juice Robinson.

The eventful 2018 has continued for Cody Rhodes as it started off by challenging for the ROH World Championship, then going on to challenge for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship and then came he and The Young Bucks' self-financed 'All In' show which is where Cody defeated Nick Aldis to become the new NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion. Tonight at 'Fighting Spirit Unleashed', Cody had his sights set on becoming IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Champion when he challenged Juice Robinson for the title.

Coming off of his championship win at the G1 Special, Juice Robinson has not been able to find his footing as champion as he lost the majority of his matches in the G1 Climax 28 tournament and was pinned in a multi-man match by Cody which is why they squared off tonight.

2018 got a little darker for Juice Robinson and although he gave it his best shot, he was ultimately bested by the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Cody. Cody is a co-holder of the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Titles, the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion and is now the new and the fourth man to hold the IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Championship.
