Cody Rhodes and CM Punk close the final WWE Raw before WWE Royal Rumble.
After being accidentally kicked by Sami Zayn, Cody was lying in the ring, looking up at the Undisputed WWE Championship and the Winged Eagle Championship, which were hanging from above the ring. Cody said he was looking forward to being done with Kevin Owens and moving forward to WrestleMania.
CM Punk came out and asked Cody if he was alright. Punk said that it looked like being the champion was starting to get to Cody. He said he knew Cody wanted to be like Bruno Sammartino and John Cena, but that starts to burn you out. Punk said he's been there.
Cody said they were in the ring together last year before Royal Rumble, and Punk had a prediction for him, so he wanted a prediction ahead of Royal Rumble this year. Punk said that Cody would have to keep running hard being the Undisputed WWE Champion, and as he continues to make the towns, somebody would be getting in the best shape of their life and ready to take the title from him at WrestleMania. Punk said that was the good news. The bad news is that the somebody was him. He said while everyone else would stab him in the back, he would stab him in the front.
Cody said he's always been chasing Punk ever since they started training together, from when Punk got called up to when he took a ten-year hiatus. However, the dynamic has changed because now Punk is chasing Cody. Cody said he hopes that Punk wins the Rumble because he wants him to catch up.
Punk stopped Cody from leaving and said a lot of people have wanted him to catch up, until he did. Cody fired back that he wanted Punk to win the Rumble and catch up so he could see the look on his face when the Best in the World finds out he isn't that anymore.

Rhodes will defend his Undisputed WWE Championship in a ladder match against Kevin Owens at WWE Royal Rumble. Punk is set to compete in the men's Rumble.
