Cody Rhodes: I've Never Faced Naomichi Marufuji, That Could Be Something That Could Happen Down The Road

Cody Rhodes highlights Naomichi Marufuji's influence.

At NOAH Destination 2024 on July 13, WWE star AJ Styles will face Naomichi Marufuji. This will mark the second time in recent memory that WWE and NOAH have collaborated for a high-profile match, as Shinsuke Nakamura faced the Great Muta at NOAH’s New Year show in 2023.

In an interview with Pro Wrestling NOAH's YouTube channel, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes was asked to comment on the match. He spoke highly of Marufuji and noted that they could potentially share the ring.

"It’s not hyperbole to say that Marufuji, how important he is to modern pro wrestling and modern sports entertainment, I mean, if you hit the ropes behind another guy, you call that a ‘Marufuji.’ That’s a Marufuji forearm, that’s what I do. It’s part of my comeback that I have in my own matches, so just that, the fact that I’ve never got in the ring with him, that could be something that could happen down the road," Rhodes said.

Naomichi Marufuji recently said that he wants to invite more WWE wrestlers to NOAH. Check out his comments here.
