Cody Rhodes spoke directly to Austin Theory on August 23.
The August 23 episode of WWE SmackDown began with Cody Rhodes as a guest on the Grayson Waller Effect. The large portion of the segment would see Grayson trying to convince Cody that Kevin Owens would eventually turn on him, complete with a video package compiled of Owens' history of betraying his friends.
Before any of that could air, Cody Rhodes would tell Austin Theory that while Waller is trying to convince everybody that Cody isn't a true friend, Grayson is actually using Theory. Cody would say that he and the WWE Universe are simply waiting for Austin to do something about it.

Eventually, Kevin Owens would get involved in the segment, and a tag team match would be made as the headliner of the August 23 episode.
