Cody Rhodes Told Brandi He Wanted To Do A UFC Fight Two Years Ago, 'She Let Me Know That Would Not Be Happening'

Cody Rhodes was thought about fighting in MMA.

With WWE and UFC under the same umbrella as TKO, the idea of crossover talent has been more prominent than ever, although the likes of Ronda Rousey, Brock Lesnar, Ken Shamrock, and more were competing in both worlds before TKO existed.

Speaking to Marc Raimondi of ESPN, Cody Rhodes was asked who could potentially crossover to WWE, and he mentioned Conor McGregor was an easy choice, but he felt Conor has more fighting left in him.

He then pondered who in WWE could make the jump to UFC.

"What would be funny to me is if anyone could crossover from here. We have legitimately very tough guys like Bobby Lashley. I'm always very curious to see how one of us would do. I know in the past it's not always worked out for everybody, but I am curious to see who is the first to take that jump," he said.

Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar achieved different levels of success during their respective MMA careers. CM Punk tried.

Asked if he would consider it, Cody replied, "I actually told my wife. I told my wife I wanted to do one fight. I told her this two years ago. I think I was looking for some sort of massive financial windfall, I don't know what it was, but I told her I wanted to do one fight and she absolutely let me know that would not be happening. Unless you convince her, it's not going to happen. Maybe it's for the best."

When asked about a possible opponent, Cody said, "Give me the worst guy possible. Give me a freebie upfront, for sure."

Cody is a former amateur wrestler who won the Georgia State Tournament as a Junior and Senior in High School.

Cody is set to compete in the WWE Royal Rumble on Saturday, January 27. Fans can check out the lineup for the event by clicking here.
