Cody Rhodes still has not ruled out a WWE return.
Although Rhodes has experienced success as an independent wrestler, he still wants to take part in WWE's tag-team tournament which honor's his late father. The Dusty Rhodes Tag-Team Classic was created after the passing of its name sake. Rhodes was at the unveiling of the tournament's trophy and presented it to the inaugural winners. On a media conference call, Rhodes said the tournament would be his reason to return.
"Maybe the door is open. I'm just not looking at the door. I did state and I'll reiterate, I'd love to be part of the Dusty Tag-Team Classic. It's named after my dad, so that's the reason why. If I ever got to do anything with my brother again, I wouldn't want to fight him. I would have him as my partner in that Dusty classic," said Rhodes.
Coming back for the tournament would not happen without conditions, which Rhodes admits could stall hypothetical negotiations with WWE.
"I'm sure the door is open. It wasn't left on the coldest terms. There's some people that are pissed off. I wouldn't come back without a long list of demands that they wouldn't meet. We would be going back and forth forever," said Rhodes.
