Cody Rhodes says the legend is supposed to be cooler than the fact.
The chaotic road to WWE WrestleMania XL is well-documented, as the company pivoted from a match between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns to a showdown between Reigns and The Rock before the "We want Cody" movement forced their hand. WWE switched back to the rematch between Rhodes and Reigns, and The Rock turned heel as he aligned with Reigns on the road to WrestleMania. The journey was chronicled in the "WrestleMania XL: Behind The Curtain" documentary, which highlighted the behind-the-scenes decision-making that went into it all.
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Cody Rhodes commented on WWE breaking kayfabe with the documentary.
“Well with the behind the scenes documentary, that’s really as far as I think you should ever go. Not because I don’t want people to know, but the legend is supposed to be cooler than the fact. So watching the documentary the other night, I feel like people have all these questions and there’s kind of these different outlooks and takes and I like that more than someone definitively saying no, here’s actually what happened. Plus, I like that Rock, Roman, me, Seth and Triple H all look like we were involved with a bank heist, but have different stories when we got caught by the cops. Like everybody in the interrogation [says] it was him, it was him, it was me… I do like that," Rhodes said.
Cody Rhodes is set to appear on the July 19th episode of WWE SmackDown. More information is available here.
