Danhausen thinks Eddie Kingston would be the champion in Def Jam: Fight For NY.
Def Jam: Fight For NY is a 2004 video game release that is the sequel to Def Jam Vendetta. The Def Jam Vendetta series featured popular rappers battling it out using wrestling moves. Fight For NY took the wrestling ring away and focused primarily on rappers battling in more of a Fight Club setting.
Danhausen thinks Eddie Kingston would be perfect for this. While reacting to moves featured in Fight For NY on IGN Fan Fest, Danhausen called for a remake of the 2004 classic with Eddie Kingston, a Yonkers native, featured.
"I think we should remake this game with Eddie Kingston in it," he said. "I think he would be the champion."
Def Jam Vendetta was born off the back of WCW closing in 2001. The original idea for Def Jam Vendetta was slated to be WCW Mayhem 2, with WCW once again having a game made with the AKI engine that is featured in games like WWF No Mercy.
In 2023, AEW Fight Forever is slated to feature a gameplay engine heavily influenced by the AKI game engine that was popularized by the Nintendo 64 classics. Recently, Kenny Omega explained why the game had been delayed due to its ESRB rating. Read more here.
