Darby Allin has had an impressive year with AEW, most recently winning the TNT Championship from Cody Rhodes at Full Gear. But what does next year hold for the coffin-dropping daredevil?
Speaking with Louis Dangoor of WrestleTalk, Allin says that 2020 was by far the best year of his professional career, and wants to continue raising the bar for himself over the next 12 months.
“It’s been the best year professionally by far. There’s no way you can top it…. The goal in 2021 is to main event a pay-per-view. It’s a goal for me. As for anything specific like a match, I’ll say give me anbody and I’ll make anything work.”
When the conversation moved to Sting and their interactions, there was no hesitation in calling those moments special and just as big as his title win.
“That was a huge moment, but something about the interactions with Sting are just as big, because this is writing history here. If this is the tail end of somebody’s career, and you have any hand in writing that story, it doesn’t get any bigger.”
As for whether the two face-painted superstars face-off or team up, Allin has no preference.
“Wherever the wind takes me. Wherever the wind takes me”
However, when asked who he'd want to face should he achieve his goal of main eventing a PPV in 2021, the TNT Champion quickly replied with "Sting."
Allin can be seen on AEW Dynamite every Wednesday night on TNT/TSN.
