Bill Simmons and David Shoemaker believe that 'Mr. McMahon' could have been a ten part series.
Netflix's 'Mr. McMahon' show has been a popular talking point across the world of wrestling, with many fans breaking down and discussing nearly every frame in the six part series. As of publish time, the show ranks as Netflix's second most watched show in the United States.
On the latest edition of The Bill Simmons Podcast, David Shoemaker and Bill Simmons talked about how four hours of footage for the series ended up on the cutting room floor.
Simmons: We had four hours [of Vince’s interview] on the cutting room floor. I think this easily could have been ten parts, but we didn’t want to do it that way.
Shoemaker: We had four hours of Vince’s interview on the cutting room floor because he sounded like a frog one day [laughs]. He didn’t have a voice. There was so much good material, but I think the story that Chris and the team were able to tell is pretty amazing
Simmons and Shoemaker also went on to confirm that WWE was not involved anymore, and they were not involved in the final cut.
Elsewhere in the podcast, Simmons and Shoemaker said that the Evel Knievel story was the best thing that ended up on the cutting room floor for the series. Learn more here.
