Dax Harwood: The Pinnacle Was DOA Because One Person Thought He Was Bigger Than The Group

In March 2021, The Pinnacle (MJF, Wardlow, Shawn Spears, FTR, and Tully Blanchard) officially formed as the group aligned to feud with The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, Jake Hager, Santana & Ortiz).

The Pinnacle would feud with the Inner Circle throughout the spring, culminating in a Stadium Stampede bout at AEW Double or Nothing. Following the bout, the group would slowly dissolve as everyone went in different directions

On the latest episode of FTR with Dax Harwood and Matt Koon, Dax looked back at the Pinnacle's run.

"I wouldn't have joined it, that's what I would have changed," Dax said with a laugh when asked what he would change about the group.

Throughout the review, Dax pointed out examples of how MJF took center stage in promos and matches. When it was announced that the FTR podcast would be covering the Pinnacle, Shawn Spears tweeted, "DOA."

Reacting to the tweet, Dax said, "Spears is going to get more heat than I am, thank you Spears, you take some away from me. Spears is finally branching out and understanding how good he is and that he doesn't always have to keep his mouth shut if he doesn't want to. (The group was DOA) because, I think, one person in the group probably thought that he was bigger than the group, maybe, and probably felt that this was just designed for him, maybe. Maybe he wasn't the only person that thought that. I didn't think at first we thought that. At first, someone, and maybe a couple of other people outside of our group too, felt this was a vehicle for just him and them. We felt, us and Wardlow, I say us being me, Cash, Spears, and Wardlow, felt that if we all worked together, we could all get over and we could all get each other over. Obviously, Max was going to be the main event guy winning the world belt. We know that. We felt everybody could benefit from this group, and in turn, benefit who we individually worked with, and in turn benefit AEW's business. It just didn't pan out that way."

As time passed, FTR (Dax & Cash Wheeler) would drop Tully as their manager and MJF would feud with Wardlow.

FTR and Wardlow would reunite in August 2022 and go on to team at AEW All Out. Shawn Spears re-joined the group in October 2022. The reunion was short lived with FTR and Wardlow entering into different programs and Spears being off television.

FTR is currently on hiatus from AEW, but are open to return before April.
