Deonna Purrazzo wants in on the AEW vs. IMPACT war.
Since the opening of the forbidden door, Purrazzo has been very outspoken regarding her desire to compete against female talent from AEW. While Rich Swann is set to challenge Kenny Omega for the AEW World Champion at IMPACT Rebellion, Purrazzo is patiently waiting for her chance to mix it up with Hikura Shida.
"As an advocate for women's wrestling, I want women to be part of [interpromotional matches]. Wrestling isn't the boys club anymore. I want our Knockouts Championship to be defended all over the world. I know that whoever is part of the AEW women's division and Tony Khan want their championship to be held in the same contention. If we can have Kenny vs. Rich, champion vs. champion, why can't we have Deonna vs. Shida? Our division is continuously growing and is one of the best in the world. Their division, in the same light, is continuously growing and becoming one of the best in the world. There is no lose-lose, no matter what the match is," she said on Busted Open Radio.
When asked who she would like to face in AEW women's division, Purrazzo replied, "I always want the champion vs. champion match. Someone like Thunder Rosa, who had the first women's main event and one of the matches of the year against my best friend Britt Baker. I kind of want to get revenge for Britt, but I'd also love to wrestle Britt. These are women who have cemented themselves at the top of the AEW women's division and if I'm at the top of the Knockouts division, which I am, I want to compete against the best."
Rosa defeated Baker in an unsanctioned match at AEW St. Patrick's Day Slam.
AEW President Tony Khan, who was on the show following Purrazzo, replied to the IMPACT Knockouts Champion and said, "Deonna is a great wrestler. It'd be great for everyone. I hadn't necessarily considered unifying those titles, but it's something to see."
Khan is set to attend IMPACT Rebellion, which is headlined by AEW Champion Kenny Omega vs. IMPACT Champion Rich Swann in a title vs. title bout.
Fightful will have live coverage of IMPACT Rebellion on Sunday, April 25.
