Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa finally captured the WWE Tag Team Championship and did it in one of the most sentimental ways possible.
#DIY's Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa returned to Toronto, the same place where they had won the NXT Tag Team Championship, to defeat Grayson Waller and Austin Theory and capture their first WWE Tag Team Championship. This was also the first respective championship belt for either man on their main roster.
Moreover, they won the titles in the same way that they defeated FTR (The Revival) at WWE NXT TakeOver: Toronto back in 2016 by making both numbers of the championship team tap out simultaneously. After the match, they were able to celebrate with pyro going off in the background, having finally finished the agenda and captured the WWE Tag Titles in the main event of the July 5 episode of WWE SmackDown.
