DJZ explains the reasoning behind his name change.
Seven NXT talents underwent name changes this week including Shane Strickland, Trevor Lee, Adrian Jaoude, Eric Bugenhagen, Luke Menzies and Jessie Elaban. Also undergoing a name change was former two-time AAW Heritage Champion DJZ who is now going by "Joaquin Wilde". The NXT talent explained the meaning behind his new name via Twitter and noted that he had an uncle named Joaquin who loved professional wrestling and always wanted to pursue a career in the sport but where he was from, opportunities like that did not come easily and DJZ chose the name to live out his uncle's dream.
I had an uncle named Joaquin. He LOVED pro wrestling, always wanted to be a wrestler but those opportunities didnt exist in the Philippines. I chose this name because by living my dream, im also living his dream. And WILD(E) is the perfect word to describe the way i wrestle! pic.twitter.com/SjGEmEPZ1z
