Dominik Mysterio is no stranger to being in a WWE ring, but his official in-ring debut, set for SummerSlam, was something he wasn't expecting.
The news that he was going to make his WWE debut against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam on August 23 was first revealed by Dominik's father Rey, according to the younger Mysterio. Dominik spoke to ESPN and actually thought that Rey was joking around when he told him of his debut. dominik wrestling at SummerSlam would later be confirmed backstage at a recent Raw taping.
"My dad [was the one who] told me," Dominik said. "I initially thought he was joking. I was like, 'What are you talking about? That's not happening. I'm not under contract, I'm not ..."
"You said, 'I'm not even ready yet.' He thought I was messing with him," Rey said.
But it wasn't just the fact that Dominik's in-ring debut would be at SummerSlam that shocked him. dominik said he was speechless once he heard who his opponent would be.
"I was speechless," Dominik said. "The fact that my first official match would be at SummerSlam against Seth Rollins, it's ..."
"It's mind-blowing," Rey said.
