Drew McIntyre On Cesaro Leaving WWE: 'He Will Be Fine. He's Far Too Talented Not To Be'

Drew McIntyre will have to wait a little longer to wrestle Cesaro.

On Thursday, February 24, it was reported that Cesaro quietly left WWE following the expiration of his contract. Fightful was able to confirm these reports, noting that there had been no long-term creative plans for Cesaro, and that unless a new deal was reached, that would remain the case.

Cesaro had a huge push in 2021, taking part in the only singles main event he ever would be involved in at WrestleMania Backlash against Roman Reigns. Shortly thereafter, Cesaro’s push slowed down and in the past several weeks, he was regularly losing matches.

One match that he never got to have while on the SmackDown roster is a match between himself and Drew McIntyre. McIntyre is somebody who left WWE himself back in 2013 and eventually found himself in the main event of WrestleMania in 2020.

Speaking about the departure of Cesaro during a new interview with the In The Kliq podcast, Drew McIntyre explained to Baby Huey that he was very sad to see Cesaro go but he believes that Cesaro is too talented to not do well wherever he lands. Drew also revealed that Cesaro is now a father.

"That's a shame. So many people come and go from the company, I'm one of them, and we always see each other down the line, but it sucks more when it's a friend and somebody that you really want to wrestle. That was my number one match, I think it was his number one match. We've both and wrestling for 20 years, but never had a singles match. So we're gonna be a bit longer, it'll happen eventually. But, you know, he's got his family. He's got his new kid, and he's going to be just fine. He is far too talented not to be," Drew said.

Cesaro has yet to release a public statement regarding his WWE departure but many of his contemporaries have shared well wishes on social media.

We will continue to monitor the story regarding Cesaro’s WWE exit and report all updates as they occur.
