Drew McIntyre went from missing the headline to making the headline.
On June 12, 2014, WWE released Drew McIntyre. Vince McMahon had hyped McIntyre up earlier in his time with the company, and while he enjoyed some success, his first run did not pan out. However, after reinventing himself on the independent scene and becoming a top star in TNA, McIntyre returned to WWE in 2017. He has since won the world title three times, and he recently signed a new multi-year contract.
McIntyre took to Twitter/X on June 12 and reflected on the anniversary of his release. He noted that he did not make the headline in the official announcement about his release, as other superstars were named instead. McIntyre wrote that, ten years later, he was the headline. McIntyre also commented on the anniversary in a clip and noted that the release was the best thing that ever happened to him.
