EC3 has made his way back to the WWE, but leaving Impact was not as easy for him as most think it was.
Former two-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Ethan Carter III is set to make his re-debut in the WWE soon, as a part of the NXT brand. EC3 was shown in the front row during NXT's 'TakeOver: Philadelphia' event on January 27th. EC3 was formerly known as "Derrick Bateman", during his WWE developmental days a little over six years ago. His last match on WWE programming was against then, NXT Champion, Big E and in May of 2013, EC3 was released from his WWE contract.
Newsweek reached out to EC3 on January 23rd to receive a comment from the "Top Man" and asked him to elaborate on why he decided to leave Impact. The former Impact Grand Champion stated that the decision to leave was not one of ease, but it was a choice that he made to put himself in a better position for the future.
"My decision to leave Impact had nothing to with their business or finances and everything with me wanting to challenge myself to something new. Leaving Impact was a very difficult decision as I had six months left on a very lucrative and talent-friendly contract. Anthem lived up to that contract and always treated me with the utmost respect as a businessman and a person.”
As mentioned above, EC3 has signed a contract with the WWE and will be a part of the NXT brand. It will only be a matter of time before the NXT Universe is re-introduced to Ethan Carter III.
