Eddie Kingston Calls Christopher Daniels The Jay-Z Of His Generation Of Independent Wrestling

Eddie Kingston pays homage to the OGs of indie wrestling.

Eddie Kingston made his name grinding away on the indies for decades. Now, he is a star in AEW alongside some of his other contemporaries including CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Christopher Daniels, and more.

Recently, Kingston wrestled Bryan Danielson on AEW Rampage in the World Title Eliminator Tournament and that loss led to him facing CM Punk in a feud that was built around Kingston's long road to stardom and how he was judged on his ride to stardom by those he idolized.

Recently, Kingston appeared on Swerve City with Shane Strickland where he named his Mount Rushmore of his generation of indie wrestling.

“I consider Bryan the greatest of our generation. So I broke in in 2002 and he broke in in 2000/2001. So I say my generation is like if you want to go Mount Rushmore, I mean, it's gonna be a little rough but for me personally attend to Bryan and for the American Independents. I would say Bryan, Low-Ki, Homicide, and Samoa Joe for me personally of my generation, for the independents anyway, who turned things up.

“Man those early 2000s, we had to be insane because there was only WWF at the time, right? So we were all just hitting each other really really hard. I hated it.”

Furthermore, Eddie Kingston compared Christopher Daniels to Jay-Z saying that while everybody was trying to hit each other as hard as they could, Christopher Daniels kept it smooth.

“Chris Daniels, he was the Jay-Z of the group. He was slick, all of us are rough, If you think about it. Go back and watch those matches, CD’s smooth and slick.”

Daniels is currently not wrestling in AEW but has expressed an interest in getting back in the ring should they ever need him. Learn more here.
