Eric Bischoff Talks MLW One Shot, Says He's Going To 'Sprinkle Some Bischoff Dust' On The Product

Eric Bischoff is looking to sprinkle some "Bischoff dust" on MLW.

On December 5, MLW will host their One Shot event at the Melrose Ballroom in Queens, New York. The show will be a special one for the company, as Eric Bischoff will be coming in to take creative control of the show for one night only.

Some fans are excited to see Bischoff return to the creative aspect of the industry, as he last held a role of that nature in 2019.

During a recent Ask Me Anything for AdFreeShows.com, Bischoff talked about the event and said that he's looking to put an emphasis on cold opens, promos, and the show's main event.

“We’re actually having our first official creative morning tomorrow morning to take a look at the format, take a look at what we’re planning on doing right now and then we’re gonna work together and I’m gonna sprinkle some Bischoff dust on it. I’d like to — I’ve already been thinking about the cold open. Opens are a part of the program now that, sometimes at very best they’re serviceable, but in my opinion, show opens are missing the boat by a mile. There’s a lot of opportunity to pre-sell your audience on the show before it even starts but you got to set it up right. Capture their imagination and get their interest right off the bat. So I want to do that. I want to take a close look at how they’re doing their backstage promos or any of their in-ring promos because there’s different ways to do that. Jason and I used to do it over in TNA towards the end of our run there, it’s a very effective way to kind of bring that story forward without doing the traditional standup with one person with the stick doing the Mean Gene bit with two talents that aren’t really that great at what they do anyway trying to be good actors. I want to thread — whatever our main event ends up being, I want this story to be front and center from the beginning of the show to the end of the show. I don’t want anybody getting up to take a piss and forgetting what the main event is, I want them glued to their seat for it. That’s a challenge for me because I talk a lot about these things when we critique WWE or AEW in particular, I talk a lot about these things but now I’m gonna actually have a chance to do them and see how it affects the quality of the show. People may hate it, I don’t know. Those are the things I’m looking forward to. In terms of the in-ring stuff, who’s wrestling who and all of that, this is a one shot only, I’m not here to book a storyline for six months, so my goal is to take whatever they have planned and try to tilt it 15 or 20 degrees in my direction and see if it feels any different.”

As of publish time, two matches have been set for MLW One Shot, with Matt Riddle facing Donovan Dijak and Mistico defending his MLW World Middleweight Championship against Trevor Lee.
