Eric Young: Nothing Against Tony Khan, But AEW Wasn't My Place; IMPACT Is My Home

Eric Young explains why he chose to return to IMPACT Wrestling.

In April 2023, Eric Young asked to be released from WWE just days after Vince McMahon's return to the company following the merger with UFC under the Endeavor umbrella. Young had departed from IMPACT Wrestling in October 2022, signing a deal with WWE only weeks later. Despite this, Young never made his on-screen return for the company.

At the Slammiversary pay-per-view in July, Young shocked fans and made his surprise return to IMPACT Wrestling.

In a new interview with Nick Hausman of Haus Of Wrestling, Young was asked about if there was ever a chance of him going to All Elite Wrestling following his release from WWE.

“I talked with some friends there and people that I trust, and Tony had kind of mentioned that he was interested, but it just never materialized. And the truth is, I’m just going to get lost in the ether and in the mix like 60 other people there, right? The truth is I don’t have his confidence. Me and him aren’t close in any way, shape, or form."

Young went on to clarify that he has nothing against Tony Khan, stating that he's very respectful and kind.

“I’m kind of replacing one set of problems for another, and I have nothing against Tony Khan. From everything I know, he’s a very nice man. I met him a couple of times in passing. He treats the wrestlers with respect, he pays them very well, and is a very respectful man and a kind man. So, it’s nothing against the product or nothing against him. It’s just not my place. Impact Wrestling is my home, and that’s where I wanted to be. So that’s where I am.”

Eric Young competed at a recent set of IMPACT Wrestling's television tapings that took place on Sunday, October 22. Fans can see full spoiler results by clicking here.
