Shane McMahon to AEW? It’s not looking likely.
There was heavy buzz throughout wrestling over the past week regarding the possibility of Shane McMahon appearing in AEW. Tony Khan told Wrestling Observer that he’d not ever had a conversation with or met Shane McMahon. Those that we’ve spoken to say that Shane McMahon hadn’t been brought up at a high level.
There were numerous talent that inquired with us an internally about the possibility of Shane appearing in AEW, but were told that it hasn’t been something considered. However, McMahon himself has spoken to others about the possibility of it, and didn’t seem opposed to it happening. Shane’s father Vince told some close to him in WWE that Shane McMahon “would never get another pop in the company again” as long as he was running it, after a messy Royal Rumble 2022 situation. Vince was out of the company months later (kind of), and Shane made an ill-fated return at WrestleMania 39 where he got injured.
Though Shane appeared at WrestleMania last year, he no longer has a contract of any kind with WWE, including a talent contract, legends contract, or anything of the sort. He was featured in WWE 2K24 as a part of a separate agreement.
