Brian Myers has nothing but nice things to say about Tony Khan.
Speaking with Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp, the IMPACT Wrestling star noted how the first time he ever talked to Khan was during an August 2020 edition of The Major Wrestling Figure Podcast, where the AEW President was brought on as a guest to discuss the promotion's new toy line from Jazwares.
Khan would begin appearing on IMPACT television a few months later in the wake of the 'Winter Is Coming' edition of Dynamite. On that night, Don Callis interfered in the AEW World Championship match, helping Kenny Omega win the title from Jon Moxley. The two companies would start doing cross-promotional work, with Khan airing paid ads during IMPACT's show on AXS TV and even appearing at ringside on select occasions.
When asked how his interactions have been with Tony Khan - now seeing each other backstage at tapings - Myers said the following:
"Oh, he’s awesome. So, the first time I ever got to talk to him was on my podcast. We interviewed him about the new action figures and that conversation was about action figures, but of course, it was all over the place because he’s a legit wrestling fan. Just like me and Matt. So, we were shooting the shit about everything in between and it was so fun. I was like, ‘Oh, this guy’s great.’ He didn’t seem like the boss of this million-dollar wrestling company. He was so fun and easy to talk to. Especially since we had something so in common. It was awesome. So, yeah, it’s cool for me to see Tony."
Sean then remarked how his experience with Tony Khan has also been positive, even sharing that their first interaction came when Khan sent him a 'happy birthday' message on Twitter. Myers joked about how that's probably not something that would happen with WWE's Chairman of the Board.
"I don’t think Vince [McMahon] knows the password to his Twitter account to even write you that," said Myers.
Myers worked for WWE as Curt Hawkins from 2006-2014, and then again from July 2016- April 2020 when he was let go at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A co-owner of the Create A Pro Wrestling Academy, Myers has seen several of his students go on to be successful in the wrestling industry, including a few for All Elite Wrestling, namely MJF, The Acclaimed's Max Caster, and Kris Statlander.
You can see Brian Myers each week on IMPACT Wrestling where, most recently, he rejected a challenge from his longtime friends and podcast co-host Matt Cardona for a match at Hardcore Justice on Saturday, April 10.
Up next for Myers is Major Pod's Figure Wrestling Federation LIVE on Thursday, April 8. Pre-orders are available now, and you can watch the event through April 15 before it goes away.
