Conrad Thompson has found great success in the podcast world, and has parlayed that into a podcast convention, t-shirts, and even a WWE Network show.
Given the nature of Thompson's "Something To Wrestle" with Bruce Prichard podcast, when a spinoff was announced for the WWE, many looked for changes to be made to the show. One was seen right out of the gate, as the traditional into from Thompson himself was replaced by one from Prichard himself. When speaking to Fightful.com, Thompson explained the mentality of making the switch.
"We were looking for a way to set the tone, so we had Bruce start with the talking heads on a stick. That wasn't a WWE directive, it was a way to loosen the audience up. What better way to do that then have Bruce open up with one of his silly impressions?," said Thompson. "It did introduce us to a whole group of wrestling fans. That was the original idea, then use it as a way to introduce who everyone is."
The season of "Something Else to Wrestle" came to a conclusion last week. Despite some alleged creative issues between the two sides on an episode in that season, Conrad says WWE is happy with the content and open to a second season.
"They would love to do another season. The show did really well. We had several episodes in the top 10, but unlike a lot of content WWE is creating now, it doesn't get old. If we go back and talk about something from 1988, that never gets old. It's an interesting dynamic, and has what WWE calls 'a longer tail,'" said Thompson.
