Damien Corvin Discusses His Move To Heavyweight, Says Losing His Abs Was Heartbreaking

Damien Corvin comments on what he's noticed about his experience wrestling since bulking up to heavyweight.

Corvin is a 12 year veteran of professional wrestling, having shared the ring with some of the top independent wrestling names of the last decade, including the likes of Will Ospreay, Ilja Dragunov, Pete Dunne and more. In recent months, one half of the Kings Of The North has been bulking up to heavyweight, and has noticed some key differences since.

While speaking to Corey Brennan of Fightful in a recent interview, Corvin noted that he gassed a lot quicker, but also suffered with body dysmorphia.

"Yeah, I gassed a lot quicker. (Laughs) Yeah, I got that a lot quicker. So I've had my cardio something shocking, which has also meant upping my calories even more. So it's fun to try and force feed yourself and get bigger. But yeah, I got winded a lot quicker than I thought I was going to get winded. Sometimes even your body image, you know, that kind of creeps in. A bit of body dysmorphia sort of creeps in. You know, I used to be like 202 and lean as lean can be. Now I'm 50 pounds heavier, so the abs aren't there anymore, which is heartbreaking. Things got there. I didn't really expect it to have as much of an impact that way, but it did, just from a body image point of view. It took me a while to embrace it and figure out where I was going with it. Like I said, I got winded a lot quicker. Things hurt more. You would have thought it was the opposite. To be honest, you know, you would have thought, the less fat and the less size you have on you, the more painful it's going to be when you get slammed down. But, like, a superplex, when you're 250, that's 250 pounds, like, hitting the floor. So things hurt a lot more than it did when I was smaller. But, yeah. It means I don't have to dive anymore or do anything, you know, overly dangerous. I can leave that to the likes of, you know, Jay and Leon Slater and Robbie X and stuff. They can do all that cool flip stuff that I can't do and I can, you know, just drop somebody with a urinage or kick in the face."

Corvin is currently scheduled to return to TNT Wrestling in the UK next month for the first time since 2022.
