David Finlay: I Was Built For The G1 Climax, I Was Happy With My Performance In This Year's Tournament

David Finlay is happy with his performance in this year's G1 Climax tournament.

Finlay finished the tournament at the top of B block with a record of six wins and three losses. Finlay wasn't able to capitalize on his momentum though, as he went on to lose to Yota Tsuji in the B Block finals. Tsuji went on to lose to Zack Sabre Jr. in the finals of the tournament.

While speaking to Fightful for a new interview, Finlay claimed that he was built for a tournament like this and that he was happy with his performance.

"Not to mention the travel on top of it and the tiny Japanese hotel rooms. I think we were in, or at least I was, in 15 different hotels over the course of a month. So, yeah, G1 is the most prestigious, the most difficult, the most taxing, tolling, whatever you want to call it, tournament in the world. I like that this year we went back to 20 people and two blocks as opposed to whatever we were doing the past couple years. It makes it feel more prestigious, but man, it's so much harder on the body. But I was built for this. I was made for this. So, outside of losing the semi-finals, I was pretty happy with my performance this year."

Elsewhere in the interview, Finlay recalled making his in-ring debut against Gunther back in 2012. Check out Finlay's full comments on the matter here.
