The Charismatic Enigma could be a free agent for the first time since 2017.
Fightful Select has followed up on Matt Hardy’s claim that Jeff Hardy’s AEW contract is set to expire very soon, and confirmed that to be the case unless a contract extension or renewal is reached. Hardy’s deal was originally matched up to that of Matt Hardy’s, but due to varying absences, ended up getting some time added to it.
The expiration is a bit of a surprise, as many within the company expected him to have significant time added on to it. His brother Matt’s contract expired at the start of April. Jeff Hardy hasn’t been a free agent for longer than about four weeks since 2009, although he has bad various stints of inactivity. Even then, he was only a free agent for about four months before heading to TNA. For the most part, Hardy has been signed with a wrestling company for all but about five months out of the last 20 years or so, since signing with TNA after his first WWE release.
