Exclusive: Backstage News On WWE's Indecisive Elimination Chamber Main Event

There was some hokey pokey going on in regards to tonight's WWE Elimination Chamber main event match.

As we reported on FightfulSelect.com this afternoon, wrestlers backstage were informed early afternoon that the Women's Tag Team Championship match would be main eventing tonight's show inside the Elimination Chamber. However, it didn't take long for that to change.

Lee McAteer: Joe Hendry Is Absolutely Fantastic, He Deserves Every Single Thing He's Getting

Before 4 PM EST, Vince McMahon made the decision personally to swap the Elimination Chamber matches to have the WWE Championship close the show, we're told. McMahon thought that the women's match wouldn't get the desired reaction to close the show.

This sounds very much like a "plans change" situation, and it is, but it was a minute-by-minute change, as there was no decision heading into the day on what match was going to go last, and the company had the benefit of having the ability to switch both matches around considering they'll both in the Chamber structure. If any changes happen (or if we're at least told they're changing), we'll update the article.

Fightful will have full, live coverage of tonight's WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, including a live post-show podcast immediately following the event.
