EXCLUSIVE: Matt Riddle Talks Being Double Booked

Matt Riddle admits he double booked himself; blames communication breakdown.

On April 21st, Riddle appeared on a Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG) card, but some fans were expecting him at House of Hardcore on the other side of the country. During April 27th's episode of Fightful Wresling's BROCAST, Riddle talked about the five matches he had during the previous week including his match with Adam Cole at PWG. Podcast host Sean Ross Sapp asked Riddle about the rumor he double-booked himself and that's why he was not at House of Hardcore.

"It's exactly what happened, I have an arrangement with PWG, where if they have a date, I'll wrestle for them unless I have a date for EVOLVE or WWN. PWG had a date. Instead of doing Saturday, they did a Friday," said Riddle. "I contacted Dreamer, he contacted me and I wrote him back and everybody else at House of Hardcore, like 'hey I'm wrestling for PWG.' My flight was already booked, and 'sorry for the inconvenience,'" he continued.

Riddle says he gave the company "three days" notice but told House of Hardcore about his relationship with PWG before that.

"I didn't know which one I was going to do, they didn't even give me an opponent for House of Hardcore. They gave me an opponent for PWG. Plus, the person I talked to at House of Hardcore I told them if I had a booking at PWG, I'd take it. Because, I've been working for them and me and Jeff Cobb have been tagging. We are in line fore a title shot,'" said Riddle. "Then they promoted me like the next day after we talked, and I was like 'they probably shouldn't have promoted me because PWG hasn't got back to me about the dates'... I think it was just a miscommunication," he added.

He said the promotion took the cancelation well but he understands if he does not get a phone call from them in the near future. Also during the podcast, Riddle talked about his busy weekend flying back-and-forth across the United States including an "I Quit" match against NXT wrestler Drew McIntyre
