Taya is in a unique position as a character on both Impact Wrestling and Lucha Underground. However, a situation in Mexico last year between two faces she was familiar with caused controversy in the wrestling world.
During a match last summer, Sexy Star injured Impact's Rosemary when she wouldn't release a hold at TripleMania. Star applied an armbar, refusing to release the hold -- "shooting," or legitimately fighting Rosemary. The subject garnered a lot of frustration towards Star, who has seen her bookings decrease severely since.
Fightful.com spoke with Taya, who has worked with both women, and got her thoughts on the incident.
"I'd worked with Rosemary about two weeks before that went down. It was my first time working with her in the ring and she's nothing but class. When that happened, I was really disappointed. We're trying to make strides in women's wrestling, and sometimes we're our own worst enemy. It was a really shitty situation. I don't ever want to see anyone to get hurt in that way. We're athletes and we need dance partners. I can't wrestle by myself. We have to have a level of trust in each other, that's so huge to just get in the ring with each other. Obviously I've spoken to Rosemary since then, I have not spoken to Sexy Star at all. I think everyone's moved forward from that," said Taya.
Sexy Star has primarily moved on to boxing, but has worked for MDA, Luchiano Por Ellos and ACW, but hasn't returned to AAA.
