Mark Briscoe Jokes That He And Jay Briscoe Were Punching Bags For Charlie Haas In 2000

Mark Briscoe recalls wrestling Charlie Haas.

Throughout the early part of the 2010s, The Briscoes (Mark & Jay Briscoe) tangled with Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin on a number of occasions. The best received match between the two teams came at ROH's 9th Anniversary show in 2011.

While speaking to Fightful for a new interview, Briscoe recalled breaking into the business in 2000 and starting an early program with Charlie and Russ Haas.

"We were his punching bags and they were in the midst of getting signed, him and his brother Russ. We were training and had just broke in. We started in May 2000, it was supposed to be me versus Jay, but the two local legendary heels, Fabulous Mozart Fontaine and Mr. Ooh La La, came down and said ‘what are you two pipsqueaks doing?’ They came down and said, ‘Ya’ll aren’t wasting these people’s time and wrestling each other. We’re going to teach you what is what and we’re going to kick your butts.’ We ended up getting the victory, but after the match, Charlie and Russ Haas attacked us. Right after our first match, we started a program with the Haas brothers. That was right at the time they were getting ready to go to WWE. Tragically, Russ passed, and Charlie found Shelton, and it ended up being Charlie and Shelton against the Briscoe brothers in Ring of Honor"

Elsewhere in the interview, Briscoe recalled fighting with his brother in the airport and in the mall. Learn more about those comments by clicking here.
