Matt Hardy: I Was Really Surprised We Were Allowed To Do The Double Table Spot At WWE WrestleMania 25

The Hardys discuss their infamous table sandwich spot from WrestleMania 25.

WrestleMania 25 featured a heated Extreme Rules match between Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy, one that came just months after Matt helped Edge win the WWE Championship from Jeff at the Royal Rumble event.

The bout featured a ton of gnarly spots, including one where Jeff hit a splash onto a table that was positioned on top of another table that Matt Hardy was laying on.

While speaking to Fightful for a new interview, Matt and Jeff Hardy were asked if they've ever turned down a spot that was proposed to them. In response, Matt Hardy recalled the table spot from WrestleMania 25 and noted that he was surprised that WWE allowed them to do it.

"I think we've been asked this before and I don't think there's anything that stands out. You know, some of the more wild ones that we've had, we kind of got cleared to do. One of the big ones was
WrestleMania 25 when we talked about this before doing the sandwich, the table sandwich, where I'm like, ‘There's a table and there's another table on top. But instead of putting me on the top
table and putting me through two tables, he puts me in the middle one and then he's going to break the table onto me and through.’ We took a chair and put it over my organs so that I wouldn't get punctured with the table or whatever. Jeff was like super safe with it. He shot over so that it didn't break. It didn't put a ton of force and pressure on me. He really took great care of me during that. But that's one of the ones that I was really surprised we were allowed to do that at WWE even at that time.”

Jeff Hardy went on to tease the possible return of the spot.

"Yeah. I think we've done it twice, if not three times, but we did it in TNA as well and it went smooth. But that was always a dream of mine to do the human sandwich spot and Matt trusted me enough to do it. So it might come back."
